FAQ

A street light is not working. How do I report it for repair and how long will it be before it is repaired?

Complete our simple online form reporting the faulty streetlights, email Walsallpubliclighting@amey.co.uk or contact our customer service centre.

Generally, lighting faults are fixed in five working days. If lights are new there may be a delay between putting a light up and getting the electricity connected.

New lights have been installed in my street but they are not working, why?

There will be a delay between installing lights in an area and connecting them to the electricity grid. This may be several days. If the lights have not been working for more than a week, then please fill in the street lighting form and the team will investigate.

The light outside the house shines into my bedroom, can you do anything about it?

Complete our simple online form to notify us if the streetlights outside your house cause you any problems. We will consider each case on an individual basis.

The street outside my house is dark, can more lights be put in?

Complete our simple online form or contact our customer service centre. Give us details of which street and where on the street it is too dark. Each case will be considered on its individual merits.

Will the columns be placed in the same position as the old ones?

In most cases the replacements will be put in the same place. However in some cases the columns may need to be moved because the needs of the area have changed since the original columns were installed. We have undertaken a detailed design and consultation stage to try to position each street light in the best possible place, taking all factors into consideration in this process. Please contact the customer service centre if you require further information on this.

How will I know which columns are to be positioned in different places?

New street lighting column positions will be indicated by a painted circle with SL inside on the roadside/pavement, at least two weeks prior to any works being carried out. Please contact the customer service centre if you require further information on this.
